See how eRedbook helps professionals connect with families

eRedbook is the digital Personal Child Health Record – created in partnership with the NHS to help families and professionals share trusted information about a child’s health and development.

Parents use the eRedbook app; professionals use eRedbook Pro to view and add records securely with the parent’s consent.

Whether you work in an NHS service, a private clinic, or a specialist programme, this page shows how eRedbook fits naturally into your workflow.

In this short video, you’ll see how professionals:

•    Securely log in to eRedbook Pro using their organisational identity (for example, their NHS or clinic account)
•    Search for a child’s record using the parent’s registered email address
•    Connect securely to that record through the parent’s consent
•    View structured data already entered by parents or other authorised professionals
•    Add new entries such as immunisations, growth measurements, observations, or uploaded documents

Once connected, professionals can use standardised forms - for example, Observations, Feeding Status, Immunisation, and Information and Advice Given - to record clinical interactions directly into the child’s eRedbook.

These entries appear instantly to the parent and contribute to the child’s longitudinal personal health record.

How professionals work with eRedbook

eRedbook supports two complementary ways of working, depending on your existing clinical systems and governance requirements.

1. Using eRedbook Pro

Healthcare professionals can log in to eRedbook Pro and, through the parent’s consent, view and add records to a child’s personal health record.

This record is parent-held and designed to support continuity of care across multiple providers.

Professionals can:

•    View a consolidated list of records added by parents and other authorised healthcare providers
•    Enter structured data via forms (e.g. Observations, Feeding, Immunisations)
•    Upload supporting documents or notes
•    Record who performed the observation, when, and under what context
•    View measurement data and associated growth charts, immunisation entries, screenings, and reviews

All data is timestamped and auditable, ensuring clear attribution while maintaining the parent’s ownership and control of the record.

2. Integrating with your Electronic Patient Record (EPR)

For healthcare providers using a clinical system such as Epic or Cerner, Heathersoft offers a secure one-way integration.

This allows selected information entered in your clinical system – for example, immunisation or developmental checks - to flow automatically into the child's eRedbook.

Parents can then view that information alongside their own notes and entries from other authorised providers.

Parent-entered information, or data added by other providers, does not flow back into your EPR.

This keeps the statutory clinical record authoritative while still giving families a complete view in one place.

Together, these two models give flexibility - use eRedbook Pro for direct collaboration, and EPR integration for automatic data sharing at scale.
